A Look at Bobby Blair and Real Estate Investing
Hey…thanks for dropping by!
My name is Paul. You can call me the Real Estate Spy. It’s my James Bond, alter ego that is way better than I am in real life.
Today, I am taking a look at Robert Blair and his activities in REI.
Look, I don’t know good ole Bobby and much of what I have found online (if it’s true) is a bit underwhelming.
But even if his only weakness was kryptonite, I’d skip.
Why?
’cause I have already been burned in the buying into REI and I’d ditch anything that smells like a call to buy properties, risk your rear leveraging with lenders.
I know that might sound foolish, and many may argue that I haven’t tried long enough, but trust me losing it all once was enough for me.
Thank God I met James many years later and was able to recover my commitment to entrepreneurial endeavors.
To be honest James just showed me a different way.
Nothing wrong with Real Estate. Just found a better fit for me.
What was it?
(Mute all distractions and check out this 3 min and 2 sec video. It explains everything.)
Robert Blair Background and Bio
Robert A Blair, president of Blair Law Firm and Home Buyers of America, Inc, has held a variety of positions over the years, from trustee to equity partner to chairman. The companies/businesses he has been involved with include Blair Law Firm, Home Buyers of America, Winkler Trusts, Manatt, Phelps & Philips, and the National Advisory Board of IPG Photonics.
The latter company manufactured laser equipment that was used in applications like fiber amplifications, high performance fiber lasers, and Raman lasers. The uses for these applications were multiple: research, communication, and commercial.
In addition to the positions that Blair held with the above companies and firms, he also purchased and sold multiple properties.
Success Magazine appointed Robert A. Blair as their primary spokesperson regarding all things “real estate.” Success magazine offered support for those interested in real estate investing by offering his course called Investor Home Alliance Virtual Office, and his speaking engagements have drawn many high profile individuals to participate in his offering.
First Resource
Bobby Blair and First Resource, Inc (a subsidiary of Fortune Financial Systems), are partner companies with Home Buyers of America, of which Blair was President. Home Buyers offers real estate programs.
Blair was also involved with a company that provided initial funding for starting real estate businesses that focused on distressed properties.
Scam?
When it comes to money and earnings statement, Robert Blair was taken to task by the Kentucky Attorney General administration. Apparently they sited him on making false claims and dinged him on not setting up this company properly according to state regulations. Allegedly there are testimonials that have been used without the proper disclaimers.
It has become clear to me that testimonials that are often used in standard company propaganda are typically rooted in the exception to the rule rather than the rule. It is always important to keep this in mind. Seeing someone else’s success is often a bad indicator as to whether you will be successful. It is important to consider that your abilities, nature, wiring and experiences are completely different than your fellow student.
However, that is not to say that you cannot, or will not have equal or greater success. It is simply important to keep this in the back of your mind as you do your due diligence for any opportunity (including the one I recommend) you are considering.
Blair has been the subject of multiple complaints by customers who claim to have made purchases through Blair’s companies, been dissatisfied, and have been denied refunds. The Department of Justice, Federal Trade Commission issued warnings to Blair against pursuing business in Connecticut where he allegedly was involved in unregistered business opportunities.
Blair denies the charges. He claims that his infomercials featured real estate agents who did not state that they made money through attending his seminars and using his real estate investing techniques.
SUMMARY
When you have success, you are naturally going to get some haters along the way. So, I take most complaints with a grain of salt. I am not sure exactly all the things that Bobby Blair is up to these days, but what I do know is Law school is tough. So he’s got to be pretty bright. Can you learn a thing or two? Prob. Am I gonna get involved in anything at this point? Nah… especially nothing that involves a bunch of upfront capital.
